Summary
The Assistant Division Manager is responsible for assisting with the supervision and management of both the technical and administrative functions, while providing a work environment and business demeanor that will promote and be committed to quality of service, customer service, career and personnel development, safety, and corporate policy and procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Division Manager to promote and market CME services to existing and potential clients through courtesy calls, site visits, regular project updates, and by actively participating in informational community meetings, construction related seminars, job fairs and career events.
  • Plan for present and future projects based on current work load and staffing capabilities; this includes daily coordination and oversight of the branch workforce.
  • Consistently and routinely perform and document all customer service inquiries, quality of service checks and job progression to observe quality of service and personnel safety. 
  • Consistently and routinely communicate project progress, branch progress and obstacles encountered in fulfillment of duties to the Division Manager.
  • Show due diligence in responding to client schedule requests and assure timely report of services.
  • Prepare comprehensive, accurate and concise proposals for service including proposals for testing and inspection, special inspections and investigation services.
  • Strategically budget resources for future development and market fluctuations.
  • Maintain a positive working environment conducive to promoting teamwork, creativity and positive morale.
  • Mentor and manage a team with technical and administrative staff; continually develop, encourage and stimulate staff and provide resources for career advancement – this includes creation, training and maintenance of training programs that deliver professional development and engagement of staff. 
  • Recognize and celebrate staff achievements and milestones.
  • Advocate and enable effective policy compliance in all issues relating to human resources, business operations, quality assurance and training; partner with corporate human resources for hiring concerns, employee relations issues and performance management.
  • Provide comprehensive input on staff proficiency and job execution; participate in formal performance reviews of all employees.
  • Work directly with divisional staff to ensure client and CME reporting processes are met.

Work Environment

  • Environmental components include office setting, laboratory setting and outdoor settings.
  • Outdoor work will vary between wet, dry, hot, cold and snowy extremes.

Compensation: $85 - 92k / annually

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Civil Engineering / Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Construction Management, Geology, or related.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, and certifications through ACI, ICC, AWS (CWI), NICET, and OSHA are desirable. 
  • Experience with construction testing & inspection services. 
  • Experience in a management or supervisory position.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
